Library branches schedule events
The following events are scheduled for the Yarmouth and Pubnico branches of the Western Counties Regional Library:

YARMOUTH



Mid-Week Break: Jordan

Wednesday, April 30, 12 to 1 p.m.

Sandra Phinney takes us through her journey to Jordan on Wednesday, April 30 from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Program Room at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library. This Middle Eastern country offers up many surprises. Bring your lunch.



Toastmasters

Thursday, May 1, 15 and 29 at noon

Develop public speaking and leadership skills through the Yarmouth Chapter of Toastmasters International. The club meets at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library in Yarmouth on the first, third and fifth Thursdays of every month. New members welcome.



Bedtime Stories

Monday, May 5, 12, and 26 from 6-7 p.m.

Join Miss Janet and friends at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library for songs, rhymes and stories. Wear PJs and bring your favourite cuddly toy. Children birth to three years, 6-6:30 p.m.; children 4-7 years, 6:30-7 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult.



Mid-Week Break: Write Away Group

Wednesday, May 7, 12 to 1 p.m.

Yarmouth’s writing group Write Away will be reading some of their works of fiction, non-fiction and poetry on Wednesday, May 7 from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Program Room at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library. The group first read during Mid-Week Break in 2003 and the May 7 program will feature the work of both old and new members. Bring your lunch and enjoy.



Origami

Wednesday, May 7, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Michelle Blauvelt will be continuing to introduce people to the art of origami from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7 at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library. Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding and Blauvelt will teach participants how to follow patterns and folds to create their own origami treasures. There is no pre-registration necessary for this program.



Mother’s Day Craft and Story Hour

Friday, May 9, 3 to 4 p.m.

Children ages 3-6 can join the library staff for Mother’s Day Craft and Story Hour from 3 to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library. Participants will make a “mom” photo frame, listen to some Mother’s Day stories and participate in activities in the Program Room. Participants are asked to register for this program by Wednesday, May 7, by calling the library at 742-5040 or e-mailing yarmouth@nsy.library.ns.ca. Include the event name in the e-mail subject line and your name and phone number in the e-mail.



PUBNICO



Baby and Me

Wednesdays, May 7 through June 25, 10 to 10:45 a.m. /

Baby and Me offers stories and simple crafts for babies, toddlers and their caregivers every Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Pubnico Branch Library from May 7 through June 25. This is a drop-in, bilingual program and there is no pre-registration required.
