A new paramedic base in Woods Harbour will be ready for service later this month.
Although the community has had a paramedic base for the past 10 years, located in a mini-home behind the fire hall, the new base will be better equipped says Jean Spicer, a spokesperson for Emergency Health Services.
“We are pleased to be opening the new one-bay ambulance base in Woods Harbour for our paramedics in the community,” she said.
The new building has a heated bay for the ambulance and staff quarters for staff. It has a stand by generator and is very similar to some of the other newer bases that have been built across the province. It will be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Shelburne County has three EHS paramedic bases, located in Woods Harbour, Barrington and Shelburne.
