Hello. I hope everyone is having a great week. For those of you who are a little under the weather, I can sympathize.

I have been feeling miserable, but trying to avoid the doctors because a lot of them will just look at you and say it’s a viral infection so go home and rest.

Well, I went to Kentville this morning before work to try to see a doctor at outpatients. I have to say it was a complete waste of time. I went in and told them that my ears and throat hurt and that it was probably an ear infection. I then proceeded to wait for an hour and 15 minutes for a doctor that never showed up.

I know there are sicker people than me, but it would’ve taken the doctor five minutes to write a prescription after verifying what I told them.

Every other job in society is based on productivity and means that people need to move fast. Why can’t doctors speed up a little?

I think that doctors think they’re in control, that we don’t have any choice but to wait for them. Maybe that needs to change. Forgive me for complaining; I am sick, after all.

Now, to change the subject, the card party for April 15 had 10 tables in attendance. The women’s high went to Audrey Keddy while Bud Pinch won the men’s high.

Howard Coldwell won the low for the evening and the 50/50 went to Joan Chase. Mary Coldwell won the traveler and Eva Morine the door. Don’t forget about the closing coming up to mark the end of the card party season.

Happy birthday to Blair Schofield, who is celebrating April 22. Nellie Schofield will celebrate April 27 and my nephew, Michael Pick, will celebrate April 28. Best wishes to everyone that’s celebrating a special day this week.

The bean, scallop and ham supper took place April 12 at the White Rock Hall with great success. When we arrived, there was already a large crowd of people.

The food was great, along with the large selection of pies. I know that my son, Dylan, loved his apple pie. It was great to see such a large turnout. Thank you to all of the volunteers that worked so hard to make it happen.

On Tuesday, April 15, I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Elmer Pick. Elmer passed away during the night April 14.

It was a shock to his family and my condolences go out to his family and friends. Elmer will be missed.

Take care everyone.
