The RCMP say when a half-ton truck rear-ended a school bus late yesterday afternoon, it was not due to excessive speed or driver inattention.
Spokesperson Cst. George Cameron said the collision, which took place in the Ardoise area, is still under investigation, but preliminary findings point toward mechanical failure.
He said the bus was stopped with the caution lights on when the accident occurred. It was carrying a full of load of students from the West Hants Middle School, but Cameron added there were no serious injuries.
However, an ambulance was called to the scene as a precaution and some children experienced ‘minor bumps’.
The vehicle behind the bus was hauling a trailer loaded with a van at the time.
