Finally after years of heated debates, financial burden and fallen through offers, Shelburne Park, formerly known as the base, has sold.
The sale by the South West Shore Development Authority was final Monday, March 31 to Seacoast Entertainment Arts owners Jim Kendrick and Mary Barsto.

“This is a significant day for the Municipality of the District of Shelburne and a big step forward,” said Municipal Warden Paulette Scott. “After a very long process, I am pleased that the facility has been sold and we can now move forward with the new owners to create economic opportunities for Shelburne County.”

Business plans include a film studio, candle making factory and fish hatchery with the focus on the studio.

They have already begun actively marketing the film studio with hopes of drawing big pictures to the area.

The new company will be represented at the Shelburne County Career Expo at the Shelburne Community Centre on April 9th and 10th but it is unknown at this time how many positions are available to get the company up and running.Warden Scott showed her enthusiasm for the sale by marching down Water Street with a placard that read ‘It’s true, it’s true the base has sold too”.
