Break-in forces closure of centre
Bear River’s youth centre will be closed indefinitely until security issues can be resolved following a break-in March 15.
Susan Malmstrom, secretary of Bear River Innovation, Development and Growth Society, says a thief or thieves took a Dell Latitude laptop computer in a shoulder bag, a San Disk flash drive, and a Sony Playstation 2 with a Dance Dance Revolution disk inside.
The Playstation had been a major part of the March Break camp held in the youth centre, and upstairs in the Oakdene Centre gym.
She added that those responsible might also have been the ones who vandalized a private home in the area on the same day and caused heavy damage.
“We are looking forward to these people being apprehended and dealt with to the full extent that the law will allow,” Malmstrom said in a news release.
The Annapolis RCMP detachment is following up on some leads, but any help they can get from the public would be greatly appreciated, she said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Maxime Rivard at 665-4481.
