Green Business Workshop

If your small to medium business is looking for tools and techniques to improve energy and eco-efficiency, this workshop is for you. The Eco-Efficiency Centre of Dalhousie University is holding a five-hour Green Business Workshop April 8 at NSCC Kingstec.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) rarely have the time or resources to pursue energy-saving and environmentally friendly initiatives. These businesses often need help to become more efficient and effective in their resource use. Energy costs are spiraling upward and solid waste management and wastewater treatment costs are increasing. The Eco-Efficiency Centre has helped many businesses increase their competitiveness by reducing waste, conserving energy and saving money.

This five-hour workshop aims to make participants aware of ways to save money and lower environmental impacts. It will teach participants about environmental challenges facing businesses, opportunities for government financial assistance programs, and business best practices and environmental innovations.

For more information contact the Eco-Efficiency Centre by phone at (902) 461-6704 or e-mail eecentre@dal.ca. More information can be viewed online at eco-efficiency.management.dal.ca.

Kings County Anti-Idling Day

The Eco-Kings Action Team, a collaborative of the Municipality of the County of Kings, the Towns of Berwick, Kentville and Wolfville with the Kings Community Economic Development Agency, Valley Waste Resource Management, Eastern Kings Chamber of Commerce and Eastern Habitat Joint Ventures has been working on joint environmental initiatives this year.

The Eco-Kings Action Team will conduct an Anti-Idling Day April 5 throughout Kings County. Members of the Eco-Kings Action Team and volunteers will be distributing educational materials and conducting a short survey to raise awareness of the anti-idling message in Kings County. Reducing vehicle idling is a positive and easy way to reduce harmful emissions and save money at the same time.

For more information about the Kings County Anti-Idling Day, visit the Eco-Kings Action Team’s website at www.ecokings.ca.
