Hello, everyone. My computer is back – hurray. Apparently I had some viruses, but thanks to Bulldog Computers in Kentville, I did not lose any information. That makes me happy considering I have family pictures on my machine.

The card party for March 4 had another good turnout with eight-and-three-quarter tables. Audrey Keddy won the women’s high and Doug Maxwell the men’s high. The low for the evening went to Jane Davidson, but she still had fun.

Barb Bishop won the door prize, Barb Mitchell won the traveler and Audrey Keddy won the 50/50 draw. I would say that Audrey Keddy had a very good night.

Now, as for birthday wishes, I am not 100 per cent sure what ones I put in last week so if I repeat any, I’m sorry.

A belated happy birthday to Robie Hancock, who celebrated his 86th Feb. 16. Darlene Schofield celebrated March 3. Debbie and Carl Levy will celebrate their wedding anniversary March 13.

Rhys Schofield celebrates her birthday on the 16th and Shane Stevens will celebrate his birthday on the 17th. Birthday wishes also go out to Susan Haley and Larry Long, who both celebrated March 2.

Cindy Crowdis celebrates March 15 and Brett Long, Richard Knott and Karen Cook all celebrate March 17. It’s a busy month of special occasions.

Congratulations goes out to Les Ells. Les is the 2008 Provincial Gold Medalist in Boarder Cross. He received the award Monday, March 3 at Martock. He is also a member of the Horton Snowboarding team.

Both the boys’ and girls’ teams received silver medals. Les is off to Crabbe Mountain in New Brunswick for March break for some fun.

Please note there will be a bean and scallop supper at the White Rock Community Hall near the beginning of April. I will find out more details and report it next week.

Perry Munro’s Mountain Maple syrup camp will begin March 15 and 16 and will continue the following three weekends. You can enjoy pancakes, maple syrup, sausages, maple beans, brown bread, pickles and beverages.

You must phone ahead to reserve a space – 542-2658.

The White Rock Community Centre has started a youth group for ages 8-12. The purpose of this group is to include the youth of the community and instill a sense of community spirit while having fun and making friends.

This group will meet once a month and it’s free. If you’re interested in joining, contact Kim Troop at 678-8123. The first gathering was lots of fun at the Cousins’ pond in Canaan. The kids didn’t want to leave.

Also, remember there’s a fitness night at the community hall Wednesday nights at 7p.m. - $2 per person. It’s great fun and good for your health. Everyone is welcome.

There is also a walking club that meets at Andy’s Tire at the end of the Hollow Road Sunday nights at 6:45 p.m. Everyone is welcome for this as well.

Because of deadlines, I’m actually writing this before our big hockey weekend so I will have to let you know how our tournaments went in next week’s news. For our house, this means that hockey is ending for the season and swimming lessons will begin. I love hockey, but swimming will be a little less hectic for us.

Friends and family are saddened with the passing of Freda Long. Freda was a long-time member of our community.

She helped with church, community events and family events. Freda was a very kind and caring soul who passed away March 2. Our condolences go out to everyone who knew and cared for her; she will be missed.

Goodbye for now – take care, stay warm and stay safe.
