Fire destroys barn in New Minas

A fire has destroyed a barn on the Millett land in New Minas east of the County Fair Mall. New Minas firefighters responded to the alarm before 10 a.m. Saturday with several other area fire departments working in mutual aid. The blaze gutted the building, but firefighters now have the situation under control. Traffic along Commercial Street was stopped and rerouted from the County Fair Mall entrance west due to the fire scene. Cause of the blaze is undetermined at this point.
