New Minas Fire Chief James Redmond says it isn’t readily apparent how a car caught fire in a garage on Cornwallis Avenue this week.
The New Minas Fire Department was called to the scene at 8:12 a.m. Tuesday morning, Feb. 12. Redmond said the car was put in the garage mid-afternoon the previous day and sometime during the night it caught fire.
“The car is a complete write-off,” he said. “There’s extensive smoke damage and some fire damage in the garage.”
Redmond said no one was injured in the incident and the owner is insured. However, how the car caught fire remains a mystery.
