Ramblers come from behind to defeat Mariners
The Amherst Ramblers (25-18-1-3) came from behind to defeat the Yarmouth Mariners (35-10-2-1) 3-1 Tuesday night in Amherst.
With the win, the Ramblers now trail the Pictou County Weeks Crushers by two points. With the loss, Yarmouth still trail the Woodstock Slammers by three points but they do have two games in hand.
All of the scoring came in the second period as Jordan Scott (unassisted) opened the scoring at 1:05 to give the Mariners an early lead at 1-0. Travis Turner (powerplay) scored a little over 4 minutes later at 5:31 to tie the game 1-1. Trevor Steen (game winner) scored at 11:23 to give Amherst the lead at 2-1. Andrew Oakley (powerplay) added an insurance goal at 15:09.
Amherst went two for five on the powerplay while Yarmouth went 0 for six.
Andrew Flemming stopped 51 of 52 shots for the win, including all 22 shots over the final 20 minutes while Jocelyn Morrissette in the Mariners’ net stopped 20 of 23 shots in the loss.
