Valley Regional restricting visits
Tuesday afternoon, Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville experienced a broken sprinkler pipe in an area not affecting inpatient care. This resulted in the flooding of the main lobby area. The pipe was quickly fixed and the facility is cleaning up.
Due to damage and clean-up in the main lobby, visitors are asked not to visit patients in VRH until further notice. To check the hospital status, call 1-866-430-4284.
There were no injuries as a result of this situation. No inpatients have been moved.
VRH is open for emergences services. The pubic is encouraged to visit Eastern Kings Memorial Community Health Centre (EKMCHC), Wolfville and Western Kings Memorial Health Centre (WKMHC), Berwick, for non-urgent health issues. Please call 911, if you have an emergency.
For Feb. 7 and 8, the following changes in services will happen:
• Dr. Clark’s orthopedic clinic will be moved to Eastern Kings Memorial Community Health Centre, Wolfville for Feb. 7
• For ambulatory clinic appointments, contact your doctor’s office to confirm or reschedule
• Blood collection for urgent cases and emergencies will take place on level one in the lab area of VRH. Blood collection is also available at EKMCHC and WKMHC, with extended hours from 7 to 11 a.m.
On Feb. 7-8, the following services will be open:
• All chemotherapy and medical oncology
• Same day surgery and day surgery
• Emergency department
• Diabetes centre
• Hearing and speech
• Occupational therapy and physiotherapy
When arriving at Valley Regional Hospital please follow the signs for the appropriate entrances to the services you need.
