Valentine celebrations at Shelburne County libraries
Barrington Library



Valentine Party

Thursday, Feb. 14, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Children ages 4 to 8 are invited to a Valentine’s Day Party with stories, games and snacks from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14 at the Barrington Municipal Library. Participants are asked to register by Wednesday, Feb. 13 by calling the branch at 902-637-3348 or by e-mailing the library by e-mailing barringt@nsy.library.ns.ca. Please include the event name in the e-mail subject line and your name and phone number in the e-mail.



Readers Anonymous Book Club

Thursday, Feb. 14, 7 p.m.

The Readers Anonymous Book Club meets in the program room at the Barrington Municipal Library. Tonight's discussion is The Pact by Jodi Picoult. New members are welcome.



Boys Night Out: Chocolate

Thursday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m.

Boys Night Out will delve into the world of chocolate on Thursday, Feb. 28. With Valentine’s Day top treat still lingering on the taste buds, the library staff will present the story of chocolate, mixing it with facts and fun. Participants will learn about chocolate, taste some chocolate and hone their kitchen skills. Boys Night Out is a program “just for guys” ages 9-12 starting at 6 p.m. at the Barrington Municipal Library. For more information please call 902-637-3348.

Toddle and Tumble

Wednesday, Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Fun stories, games and snacks for children from birth to four presented in partnership with the King Street Family Resource Centre at the Lillian Benham Library every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The program runs until beginning of June. Please call the branch for more information.

CMHA mental health collection launch

Wednesday, Feb. 13, 1 p.m.

This is the Shelburne County launch of an extensive collection of reader-friendly material on mental health issues. It will take place at the McKay Memorial Library at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13. The Yarmouth Digby Shelburne branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Mental Health Services and Western Counties Regional Library have teamed up to add $13,000 worth of mental health, books, audio books, CDs and DVDs to the library’s collection.



Book Sale

Feb. 13 to 24, during open hours

Beat back the winter blues with some new-to-you books by visiting the February Book Sale at the McKay Memorial Library. The book sale will run from Feb. 5 to 16 during open hours. The book table selections will be refreshed throughout the sale. Call 902-875-3615 for more information.
