School buses off dirt roads
Due to icy conditions, Tri-County Regional School Board buses did not travel on dirt and gravel roads this morning and they won’t be this afternoon either.
Rain yesterday and overnight, coupled with minus-degree temperatures, have resulted in the icy conditions.
Joe Hazelton, a spokesperson for the board, said schools have been receiving calls from parents wondering whether the buses will be traveling on the roads this afternoon (Wednesday, Jan. 23). They will not, says the board.
This is the second time this month buses have been prevented by road conditions from traveling on dirt/gravel roads. Earlier this month the buses were pulled from these roads for several days because thawing conditions had made the roads too soft for the heavy buses to travel on.
