Hants health care workers receive assurances in view of report
No plans to reduce services at hospital
There are no plans to reduce services at the Hants Community Hospital.
Hospital health services director Sherri Parker, and capital Health vice president for community and continuing care Barbara Hall met with Hants Community Hospital staff to assure them that there are no plans to reduce services at the hospital. The meeting followed the public release last week of the Provincial Health Services Operational Review (PHSOR) by the Government of Nova Scotia.
All Health Districts are being asked to look at how they operate, with the goal to transform the services that are available to their communities so that they are better integrated and supported by the larger system.
Premier Rodney MacDonald and Health Minister Chris d’Entremont committed publicly that no Emergency Departments would be closed.
Officials say that community and health care workers will be an integral part of the decision-making on how to improve and enhance health care services in their communities. The vision is to provide the best quality of care and the highest level of patient safety.
West Hants Community Health Board Sandra Milbury said in a news release that she sees this as a wonderful opportunity for the health board to greater engage the community in the consultation process when it comes to their health and lifestyle concerns. By working together to realize the benefits of being healthy from the beginning of life to the end of life, at work, at home or at play.
The Provincial Health Services Operational Review Report (PHSOR) recommendations validate Capital Health’s commitment to transformation and will help officials put visionary words into practice.
