The boys hit the road and the Yarmouth Mariners with a 6-2 win Saturday. Scoring quickly out of the gate, the Hawks led 3-0 after the first period.

The plays were executed, the shots were blocked and the bench was happy, the recipe a good one for the South Shore hockey club. Scoring for the Hawks and currently on the League Top 10 scorers - netting two each -were Brandon Verge, who added two assists, Evan Lenihan, who also added two assists and Jagger Harnish.

Other assists were made by Hatt (2), Wile (2), Dodman, Hirtle and Drennan. Goalie Billy Clarke put in a solid performance by allowing only two power play goals.

Return play in Chester saw a feisty and fast paced Mariner team that was good to go. The play featured many hard hits by Big Al and the De along with 38 wild shots directed at the hot Yarmouth goalie; only three found their way to the back of the net.

Marksman Mark Creaser put in the first goal of the game (from Verge) late in the first. The Mariners tied it up in the second period slipping their one and only goal by netminder Darren Smith.

Connor Hirtle broke the tie in the third giving the proper guidance to a hard shot launched by defenseman Brennan Bailey. An empty netter by Evan Lenihan gave a 3-1 win to the hotter Hawks team.

The South Shore team is now second in the league standings and only one point behind the Pictou County squad. The Hawks travel to Pictou County this weekend to play a highly anticipated match.
