Willis Stewart Miller, age 85, of Three Mile Plains, Hants County, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2007, at the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, surrounded by his family. He was a resident of the Dykeland Lodge for the past three years. Born on February 9th, 1922, in Northfield, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Merton and Blanche (Miller) Miller. He worked for several years in the construction field throughout Hants County. Willis loved and was a faithful follower of his Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed teasing, dancing, old time music and gardening. He is survived by his sons, Donald (Diane) Miller, Martock; Terry (Geraldine) Miller, Falmouth; daughters, Sharon (Hugh) Maynard, Tonge Hill; Sandra Jones, Picton, Ontario; grandchildren, Timmy (JoAnne) Miller; Tamara (Duane) Miller; Todd (Lisa) Miller; Michael (Kim) Maynard; Annette (Cecil) Sawler; Jimmy (Michelle) Maynard; Angela (Rod) Corkum; Jeffrey and Jamie Jones; Sean (Ann Margaret) Miller; Julie (Wade) Miller; 14 great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Jason and Sarah Miller; Alicia and Tyler Maynard; Kia and Ryan Sawler; Joshua and Emily Maynard; Rebecca, Bailey and Cale Corkum; Lucca Jones and Tarryn Miller; 2 great great-grandchildren, Ryan and Savannah Miller; and a great great-grandchild to be born in April; sisters, Pearl Hill, Hantsport; Thelma Draper, Lincoln, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Merton and Blanche (Miller) Miller, Willis was predeceased by his first wife, the former Delina McCulloch; his second wife, Irene Veinot-Boyd; brother, Arthur Miller; sisters, Lorna Burrows; Maxine Hunter; and Shirley in infancy; son-in-law, Paul Jones; grandson, Terry Paul Jones. Willis is also survived by Irene’s family: daughter, Nancy (Darren) Vrbanek, Edmonton, AB; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Dearman, St. Croix; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2007, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2008, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Debra Mosher officiated, followed by a private family interment, at Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. HIMMELMAN, Jean S - 67, of Bridgewater, formerly of Liverpool, passed away in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, December 30, 2007. Born in Liverpool, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Marguerite (Schrader) Himmelman. Jean was a former employee with Lanes Motel in Liverpool. She loved to knit in her early years, listen to music and surf the “net”. She is survived by sisters, Marjorie, LaHave and Dorothy Prutzman, Crandford, NJ. She was predeceased by brothers: Clyde, Burton and Maurice. Funeral service was held January 3, 2007 in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Major Henry Bingle officiated. G. Dolena “Dolly” Hiltz – – After enjoying a Christmas with the house full of family, our mum passed away peacefully on December 31, 2007 at the age of 88. Born in Guysborough, to George and Gertrude (Dickie) Williams, she was the middle child of eleven children. She is survived by her ten children, Garnet (Janet) in Oxford; Doris Schofield (Bob Baker) in Murphy Lake; Sherwin (Betty) in North Alton; Doug (Sandra) in Strathmore, Alberta; Ernest in Bellingham, Mass; Gertrude Redden in Halifax; Rebecca Larlee (Don) in Lower Sackville; David (Marilyn) in North Alton; Danny in East LaHave and Rose Rousseau (Ray) in Aylesford; 32 grand children, 40 great grand children, 14 great, great grand children and a loving sister, Doris Black in New Mians. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Sandrew; four sisters and five brothers. Our mum spent most of her adult life living in North Alton and lovingly raising her children. She moved to Aylesford 12 years ago to live with her youngest daughter and family. Mum worked at Weavexx, Kentville for 20 years where she made life long friendships. Our mum was a loving person, always doing for others. She will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place and there was no visitation by family request. A memorial service, followed by a reception, was held at the Kingston Baptist Church, Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 2:00 pm., Reverend Leon Langille presided. Doris (Webber) Whitzman - 1917 - 2007, of Halifax, passed away peacefully in hospital Dec. 31, 2007, Halifax. Born in Digby she was the daughter of the late Edward and Sarah (Dakin) Webber. She is survived by daughter, Marcia (Dwight) Hubley, Ottawa; sisters, Betty Levick, Halifax; and Jo (Phillip) Dondale, Digby. She was predeceased by husband, Herman, Halifax; daughter Judith Ross, Ottawa; sister Ada Morrison, Glace Bay; and brother Hymie Webber, Digby. She is also survived by grandsons David and Dean Ross of Ottawa, and several great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held Jan. 4, 2008, in Jewish Memorial Chapel, Ottawa, with interment in Ottawa.

C.E. (Ted) Ogden – 84 of the Veterans Health Centre, Moncton, passed away at his residence on Tuesday January 1, 2008, after a lengthy illness. Ted was born in Amherst Shore, NS and moved to Moncton at an early age. He was the son of the late Charles and Florence (Keith) Ogden. Ted was a retired sales rep. at Bristol Myers Canada with 30 years service.; he was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Riverwiew and was a long time member of the United Commercial Travelers. He was a veteran of the 4th division Armored Corp. and served overseasfrom D-Day to VE Day. He also spent a year in Holland with the Occupational Force. He was mentioned in dispatches and was a memeber of the Royal Canadian Legion, Moncton Branch #6. In his earlier years, he enjoyed curling, bowling and traveling. Summers were spent at the cottage in Pointe du Chene. Freda Minnie Bishop – 93, of Kentville, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008 in Kentville. Born in Melanson, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Russell Coldwell and Lida Mae (Smith) (Coldwell) (Corkum). She had been employed with Sears in Kentville for 35 years, retiring as Manager of the Order Office. She was later employed with the former J. M. Duguid and later D. M. Reid Jewellery Store, Kentville. She was a member of the Kentville United Baptist Church, where she had been active in many aspects of church life, especially the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of St. Eulalie Rebekah Lodge, Kentville. She is survived by a sister, Jean Carter, Ontario; a brother, Murray (Gloria) Coldwell, New Minas; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest; four sisters, Hildred Corkum, Corrine Homer, Shirley Trefry and Joyce Walsh; a brother, Bernie Coldwell. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2008 with a Rebekah Lodge service held at 7:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, Reverend John McNally officiated. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request. Clarence Robert Ledbetter – 78, of Wolfville, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Bellflower, California on March 21, 1929. Clarence was a graduate of Redlands University and Washington University. He studied organ performance in Berlin, Germany and developed a reputation as a very successful organist. He performed recitals in Europe and North America as well as being the organist and choir director of numerous churches on both continents. His lasting legacy was his teaching in Europe and North America, his last and longest position being at Acadia University. He was also a recording artist who performed a number of times on the CBC. In addition he was the University and Chapel Organist at Acadia University and the Manning Memorial Chapel. Clarence is survived by family members in the United States and leaves a number of friends around the world. Always interested in the spiritual aspect of music, he traveled widely around the world and was a devotee of the Indian culture and religious expression. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service to give thanks for his life and talents will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 in the Manning Memorial Chapel, Acadia University, Wolfville, Reverend Tim MacFarlane officiating.
