Man arrested after early morning shooting spree

Belmont Rd., Hants County was blocked by RCMP Traffic Services for several hours earlier today, Dec. 31, 2007, as police managed a stand-off with an individual allegedly involved in two firearms-related incidents earlier that morning.
At approximately 3:20 a.m., Windsor District RCMP responded to reports of shots fired into a home in Newport Corner and another in St. Croix. The investigation led police to the Belmont Rd. residence, where the RCMP Emergency Response Team along with an RCMP negotiator were called in. A man was arrested at the residence without incident and is now in police custody.
There were no injuries as a result of the incidents and Windsor District RCMP continues to investigate. Police are not releasing any further information at this time, but look to NovaNewsNow.com for additional story updates.
