Early Christmas gift

Christmas came early for Hantsport when Hants West MLA Chuck Porter presented Hantsport Fire Chief Paul Maynard with $83,134 in funding from the Province's Emergency Services Provider Fund Dec. 20. The funds will help the fire department pay for a new Zodiac boat, which is more suited to water rescues on the Avon River than the current craft, a new compressor to fill firefighters’ breathing equipment, and construction of a new storage facility for the new equipment. Mayor Wayne Folker said, "the Hantsport Fire Department and members spend a tremendous amount of time fundraising all year, but today's announcement is certainly great news in the sense it will alleviate the stress of having to raise all that money."
