DALA, Growth Opportunities receive funding
Digby Area Learning Association and Growth Opportunities Ltd. have received nearly $125,000 in funding to help individuals in the area prepare for, obtain, and maintain meaningful employment.
The projects involved will help Nova Scotians start their own businesses and get the skills they need to find work, said MP Gerald Keddy in announcing the funding Tuesday in Weymouth.
Keddy is parliamentary secretary to the Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
Digby Area Learning Association will receive $94,921 to provide employment-related services to 360 unemployed Nova Scotians. Service Canada’s Employment Assistance Services program supports projects aimed at helping insured participants gain the skills they need to find meaningful employment. Services include providing clients with information about the labour market, help preparing résumés, career-planning services, employment counseling, diagnostic assessment, help with job-search skills, job-finding clubs, and job-placement services.
Growth Opportunities will receive $29,368 to provide information and assistance to 20 individuals interested in starting their own businesses.
