Four new doctors for the area


South West Health is welcoming four physicians to the district:

two family physicians and two specialists.

The two family physicians have been recruited to Ocean View Family

Practice, Yarmouth and will work with mentoring physician Shelagh

Leahey.

Dr. Mahmoud Ridha will begin work on Dec. 10. Dr. Ridha completed

his medical degree from the University of Almustansyriha University,

Baghdad, Iraq in 1987. He also received a higher diploma in Internal

Medicine from the University of Baghdad in 1995. Dr. Ridha has 19 years

of medical experience in Iraq and Syria. He and his wife and two

children have moved to Yarmouth.

Dr. Rajneesh Sikri will arrive in Yarmouth early in January 2008. Dr.

Sikri, received his physician doctorate in medicine from Yerevan State

Medical University, Yerevan, Armenia in 1997. He has six years

experience in New Delhi, India as a family physician and medical

administrator. He is working at the Hassle Free Clinic in

Toronto, Ontario.

People without a family physician should monitor their local newspaper (in Yarmouth that’s the Vanguard)

and radio station for information about becoming a patient of Drs. Ridha

or Sikri. Information will be advertised in the New Year about how to

become a patient of these physicians.

Two specialist vacancies have been filled.



Dr. Matthew Brookes, radiologist, will come to Yarmouth from Surrey, UK.

He attended St. Georges Hospital Medical School, University of London

and received his Medical Degree in 1999. He completed his radiology

specialist training at St. Georges Hospital, London. Dr. Brookes has

been in Perth, Australia for the past 11 months where he completed his

breast imaging/MRI fellowship. He, his wife Kirsten and two

children, will be arriving in Yarmouth next week and he will begin work

on Dec. 17.

Dr. Hafazalla, obstetrician, completed his medical degree in 1985 from

Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt. He received the Fellowship of the

Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of London in May, 1996. He

has been employed as a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist at El

Galaa Teaching Hospital in Cairo, Egypt since completing the fellowship.

Dr Hafazalla will be starting work Dec. 14. His wife Ghada and two

children will be arriving in Yarmouth next week.
