FAYE, John Gilbert, 70, Sandy Point, Shelburne Co., passed away in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point, Shelburne Co., on Friday, November 23, 2007. Born in Sandy Point he was a son of the late Josiah and Minnie Faye. In his early years John worked on Lake boats. He was a certified chef as well as having worked for Public Works and during later years at CFS Shelburne. He loved playing bingo and enjoyed hunting. He loved his farm animals. He is survived by sons, Wayne (Nora), Barrington; Terry (Alice), Sandy Point; daughters, Rosa (Peter) Morash, Lockeport; Peggy (Joe), Porters Lake; brother, David, Yarmouth; sister, Vaughn, Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Stephen, Tyler, Trevor, Christopher, Laura Lee, Lacey and Lori Dawn; great-grandchildren, Carter, Conor, Thomas and TJ; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, James, two babies in infancy; brothers, Weldon, and William. Funeral service was held on Sunday, November 25, 2007 in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Shelburne with Rev. Eric Revie officiating. Interment was in Dall Cemetery, Sandy Point. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Hallett, Eileen - 83 of Weymouth, N.S., passed away on Nov. 23, 2007 after having suffered a stroke in late September. She was the daughter of the late Lt. Col. Stanley and Sarah Hallett. Educated in Weymouth, Eileen joined the Royal Canadian Army in 1942 and served until the end of WW11. She later joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1951 and served three more years, spending part of that time in Germany. Her civilian working life was spent with Canada Post from which she retired as Post Master in Weymouth. Eileen was an active member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Weymouth North, serving as treasurer. She was a member of the church ACW women’s group, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Weymouth, as well as the Weymouth Historical Society and the Weymouth Garden Club. She is survived by her sister Maureen (Jack) McFetridge of Kentville, a nephew Andrew (Enid) Elliot of Darmouth and a niece Anne McFetridge of Fredericton, N.B. Eileen will be remembered for her positive outlook on life, her spirit of generosity and compassion and her caring, loving heart. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. A memorial service was held on Friday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Weymouth North. A reception was held at the Weymouth Historical Society Building. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Peter’s church, the Weymouth Historical Society or a charity of your choice.

NICKERSON, Dale Robert - 43, Yarmouth, passed away November 24, 2007, in Port Maitland. Born on December 21, 1963, in Yarmouth, he was a son of William Nickerson and Mavis Nickerson-DeWolfe. Dale graduated from Holland Culinary Institute of Canada, then becoming a chef. Dale was the owner of the former Fisherman's Shanty Restaurant and he loved to cook. Dale had a catering service called Dale's Gourmet Catering Service. He worked at Comeau's Seafood most recently. He won a World Championship Gold Medal for his specialty in seafood. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dale's favourite thing to do was spend time with his son Tyler, who was very important to him. He is survived by his mother; Mavis and stepfather Keith, Yarmouth; father, William "Bill" and stepmother Elsie, Yarmouth; son, Tyler and his mother Cheryl Forster, Port Maitland; brothers, Scott (Janice), Overton; Norman, Yarmouth; stepbrother; Jeff McGray, Yarmouth; stepsisters; Kim Link, Yarmouth, Sharon Saulnier, Pinkney's Point; Paula Matthews and April Arlington, both of Dartmouth; nieces, Stephanie and Jennifer Nickerson; nephews, Chris and Billy Nickerson. Dale was predeceased by his niece, Julie; several uncles and his grandparents. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Funeral service took place Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D. "Bill" Newell officiated. Barbara INGRAM passed away suddenly on Monday, November 19, 2007 in her winter home in Port Charlotte, Florida. Barb was a very loving and caring person who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. She and her husband Al traveled the world together including extensive tours of Asia, U.S. and Canada. Barb is survived by her loving husband, Alvin Ingram, formerly of Woodville; daughters, Luanne (Porter) Castronova of Buffalo and Vicki (Gregory) Worden of Camdin, Maine; grandchildren, Jillian and Rebecca Castronova, Gavin and Rowan Worden. A memorial service was held in Florida on Nov. 21, 2007 also at the Greece Baptist Church in Greece, N.Y. on Tuesday Nov 27. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Heart Association or charity of choice.

DEXTER, Margaret Addie - 86, of Yarmouth, passed away November 19 2007, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on April 19 1921 in Tusket, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Elizabeth Muise. Margaret was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral Church. She was also a member of the Golden Age Seniors Club. She worked at the Villa St. Joseph du Lac for 10 years, prior to retirement. Margaret is survived by daughters Carol (Donald) Warner, Abrams River; Gayle (Paul) Robinson, Collingwood, ONT; sister Lillian (Gerald) Melanson; Eel Brook; grandchildren Kimbery (Dwayne) LeBlanc, Wedgeport; Donnie Warner, at home; Ian and Michael Robinson, both of Collingwood, ONT; and great-granddaughter Felicia Warner, Wedgeport. She was predeceased by her first husband Alfred Smith; second husband William Dexter; brother Thomas Muise; sisters Mable Patten; Louise Powell, Irene Thibodeau, Addie Olsen, and Mamie Penny. Visitation was held Wednesday, November 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 with prayers at 8:00pm, in Sweeny's Funeral Home. Funeral service was held Thursday, November 22 at 10:30am from St. Ambrose Cathedral Church, Father John MacPherson officiated. Burial took place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. HYDE, Howard Talbot Walden, died unexpectedly on November 22, 2007 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, aged 45 years. He was born in New York, New York and educated at Nyack High School and Oswego College, both in New York State. He became a Landed Immigrant of Canada in 1977. He was a lover of music, sports and acting. He resided with his devoted common-law spouse, Karen Ellet of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Walden Hyde of McNutt’s Island, Nova Scotia. He is survived by his father, Francois Tonetti Hyde and step-mother, Joyce Hyde of Vermont; sister, Joanna Blair; nephew, Peter Haeghaert; niece, Eliza Hyde, all of Shelburne, Nova Scotia; half-sister, Lydia Hyde; and niece, Michaela Conger of California. Also survived by step-sisters, Thea Woodall of California, Darcy Woodall of New York and step-brother, Emery Woodall of Georgia. Burial has taken place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Shelburne.
Howie will always be remembered.

Brian Arnold Munroe - 49 of Kentville, Kings Co., N.S. A grieving family sorrowfully announces that as a result of a motorcycle / vehicle accident in Coldbrook on Friday, November 23, 2007, their loved one passed away on Saturday, November 24th in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Brian was born in Kentville on May 16, 1958. He leaves behind a family in deep mourning. He was a beloved son of Joan and Laurie Munroe; brother & friend to David & Malcolm. He leaves his wife, life partner & best friend, Kathryn (Ward). He was a cherished father to daughter, Alicia (Dave); stepsons: Noah John (Tracy); Jason (Tracey). A wonderful grandfather to Trevor, Brandon, Kyowa (Kyle); Chauncy & baby, Aidan. A treasured son in law & terrific brother in law. He leaves behind, nieces & nephews, a beloved uncle to them all. Brian was a long time employee of then Wade’s, now Foodland, for over 25 years. Friends & associates mourn the loss of a man to whom hard work, dedication & integrity was a way of life. He always shared his early morning coffee with his siamese cat "Mica", & enjoyed evening walks with his loving wife , Kathryn & their yellow lab, "Jack".Brian was a major sports fan, which covered all venues, but especially the "Blue Jays" and the "Maple Leafs". In his spare time, he might be found tinkering with his 1937, Pontiac car & we were all looking forward to our first drive in it. Brian was a quiet, gentle man who was taken from us too soon, but he left behind memories we will forever cherish. A caring son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle & a wonderful friend to his wife, Kathryn, he was her love, her best friend, he completed her. Brian’s sudden passing has left a void in his family’s lives that cannot be filled. We will miss him & grieve for him forever. John Austin McCabe - 64, Coldbrook, Nova Scotia, passed away on November 24th, 2007 at the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Dublin, Ireland, John was the son of the late Kathleen (Flynn) and Thomas McCabe. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband and an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a great storyteller who always had a twinkle in his eye, and was always there to help anyone he could.. Even when he was afflicted with his disease, John showed concern for others and accepted his fate with great strength. He thoroughly enjoyed the arts, speaking Irish Gaelic, writing poetry, spending time with his family, walks in the country with his friends and a good game of golf. John came to Canada in 1967, moved to Nova Scotia in 1981, and settled in the Valley in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mari; son, Trevor, Calgary, Alberta; daughter, Tara (Erich) Newcombe, Coldbrook, NS; grandsons: Nolan, Braedan and Dylan; brothers: Tom (Marie) Vancouver, BC; Pat, Calgary, Alberta; sisters: Rosealeen Tighe, England; Pauline Tully, Albany, New York; Peggy (Pat) Goulding, Dublin, Ireland; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Osborne, Dublin and an infant sister, Kathleen. There was no visitation. A memorial mass was held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, followed by a reception in the Church Hall. Father Craig Christenson officiating. Interment took place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville, N.S., 9:30 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 28, 2007. Family flowers only. Tran (Brown) Tamara Darlene - Born in Windsor on April 6, 1968, she passed away on November 20, 2007, in Brunswick, Me. She was a daughter of Patricia and Clyde Horsnell, Falmouth, and Ronald Brown and Alice Baldasso, Halifax. She is survived by her parents; her husband, Lieutenant Commander James K. Tran (United States Navy) and her two sons, Noah and Logan Tran, of Brunswick Naval Air Station, Brunswick, Me. She is also survived by her sisters, Angela Shanks, R.N. (her children Madeline and Sophie) and Tricia Brown, B.S.N., Falmouth; stepsister, Aleta-Jo (Donald) Bird (their children Chip and Jasmyne), Meadow Lake, Sask.; and stepbrother, Blair (Christina) Baker (their children Sydney and Cameron), Falmouth. Tamara is also survived by her in-laws, mother-in-law, Mai Nguyen, Sunnyvale, Calif.; father-in-law, Henry (Phung) Tran, Northglenn, Colo.; sister-in-law, Judy (Dennis) Ocondi, Golden, Colo., and brother-in-law, John Tran, Hoboken, N.J. Tamara is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tamara was a graduate of Hants West Rural High School, Brooklyn; Mount Saint Vincent University (Bachelor of Secretarial Science); and St. Martha's School of Nursing, Antigonish. She practiced as a nurse in Nova Scotia, North Carolina, Louisiana, Florida, and Hawaii. She met her future husband while nursing in Florida. Tamara and James were married in Honolulu, Hawaii on November 12, 1999. They welcomed son, Noah Kiet Tran on October 10, 2001, and son, Logan Kiet Tran on August 22, 2003. Tamara embraced her role as a navy officer's wife and mother, and her love for her family came first in her life. She passed away with her family by her side after a year-long battle with cancer. She had been under the loving care of her mother for the past nine months. Throughout her illness, Tamara has been shown an outpouring of love and support from visiting family and friends. She also received daily messages, letters and flowers from family and friends across Canada and the United States. A service for the celebration of Tamara's life was held at the Brunswick Naval Air Stn. Chapel with Lt. Cmdr. Dennis Andrews officiating. An additional service was held on Nov. 29 at the Windsor United Church with burial at Maplewood Cemetary. Rev. Bill Gibson officiated. Donations in memory may be made to the VON Windsor Branch or the purchase of a pain pump in Tamara’s memory.
