Berwick’s Apple Capital Museum has lots of friends, it seems, recognized at an appreciation luncheon Nov. 29.
Museum society directors organized the event, held at the Berwick Lions Hall - another long-time friend of the museum - for several dozen volunteers, municipal workers and local business owners.
“We’ve had an extremely successful season this year - more visitors than ever, our summer programs were really good and we’re looking forward to a new year,” director John rainforth said.
He highlighted plans to start refurbishing the museum’s Commercial Street upstairs space, and also develop an extensive photo archive of community landmarks.
“Look around you: it takes people, with a lot of time and energy, and everyone does things on their own time for the museum - work, donations....
“The concerning part of it all is,” Rainforth said, “is most of us on the board could be artifacts ourselves.”
Rainforth said the society would welcome help from anyone interested in its work, from single projects to day-to-day business, from fundraising to working with the board.
“We’d be happy to see new people - and all you people - involved with us,” he said.
