Unaccompanied Minors at Food Bank Movie
The Region of Queens’ annually sponsored Food Bank Movie offers two messages for the holiday season, one contained within the entertaining movie, Unaccompanied Minors and the other the event itself.
Recreation Department Community Development Coordinator Heather Cook said, “It’s a nice movie; it’s got a very wholesome theme. The holiday is not about the presents you get; it’s about the people you’re with.”
The movie begins 2 p.m. Dec. 1 with the doors opening at 1:15 p.m.
Admission to the event is a non-perishable food item or a monetary donation.
Cook says, “During the holidays, it’s valuable to the community because it’s a great way to help your neighbour at a time of year when people should be thinking about others.”
Unaccompanied Minors begins on Christmas Eve after five children have been snowed in at the airport without a parent in sight. Unaccompanied Minors follows this motley crew as they try to outwit a disgruntled airport official and reunite with their families.
Using "borrowed" golf-carts, a canoe on a snow hill and the help of a reluctant flight attendant, these children are about to prove the holidays aren't about where you are, but who you're with. The movie is rated PG.
Cook expects the turn-out will be as high as ever.
