Weather forced a cancellation to the start of lobster season on Monday.
A conference call between DFO and industry resulted in a decision to hold off dumping day until 6 a.m. Thursday morning. That decision may have changed after press time if a forecast of gale force winds was altered.
Thousands of fishermen in Digby, Yarmouth and Shelburne counties were in standby mode heading into Monday morning waiting to see how weather and tides would affect the start of the commercial lobster fishery off southwestern Nova Scotia.
Some fishermen weren't sure Saturday whether to bait their traps or hold off, while others went ahead in a business as usual mode.
