Meadow Pond control concerns raised
From the public viewing section of Region of Queens Municipal council chambers, a voice of concern spoke about the Meadow Pond water control structures.
Bill Cox, who attends council meetings regularly, told council those who live on Bog Road in Liverpool are concerned about this item on the Nov. 19 agenda.
The Region of Queens Municipality is looking to partner with the Queens County Fish and Game Association to re-establish water control structures.
Mayor John Leefe said the crown acquired quite a large piece of the property by trade in the early 1990s.
Duck’s Unlimited Canada then took an interest in the Meadow Pond watershed area, he added.
The organization hopes to improve the impoundment to create a better habitat for waterfowl, stated Mayor Leefe.
Citizens want to make sure the work will not impact their wells or flood their basements, continued the Mayor.
“Those are reasonable requests. Bog Road is quite low lying, as the name suggests.”
Council has plenty of time to consider these requests because work on the water control structures would not begin until next summer, said Mayor Leefe.
The requests will be considered before it is brought off the table at next month’s meeting.
