Welton's Corner crash accused remanded into custody

The 25-year-old Middleton woman who faces driving charges causing death and bodily harm from a single-vehicle crash has been remanded and will return to court next month.
The crash took place at Welton’s Corner early Friday evening, Nov. 9 after a vehicle allegedly evaded a police checkpoint by speeding off. The car landed on its roof in a ditch and a 28-year-old male passenger died as a result.
The suspect appeared in Kentville provincial court Thursday, Nov. 15 on charges of impaired driving causing death; impaired driving causing bodily harm; refusing to provide a breath sample for analysis; dangerous driving causing death; dangerous driving causing bodily harm; failing to stop within a reasonable time when pursued by police, thereby driving dangerously causing death; and failing to stop within a reasonable time when pursued by police, thereby driving dangerously causing bodily harm, all under the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused also faces charges of driving without the required liability insurance and driving while her privilege of obtaining a license was suspended, both under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicles Act (MVA).
In addition, she faces further charges of driving while her blood/alcohol levels exceeded the legal limit and impaired driving as well as MVA charges of driving with no insurance and driving while her privilege of obtaining a license was suspended. Those charges stem from an alleged incident in Kingston Oct. 31.
Judge Claudine MacDonald remanded the accused and ordered her to return to court Dec. 3 for plea.
