Tara Lee Combs comes in from Montreal.
Bands rollin’ in to rock
An amazing line-up of rock ’n roll bands is coming into Wolfville to shake up the live music community.
Ten bucks at the door gets you three bands:
Tara Lee Combs from Montreal combines various styles - from alternative to hard rock, classic rock to soul, with a hint of pop and country. An angry, beautiful, rocker girl on stage with two stellar musicians in Denis Jr. Richard and Blaze D. Think of what would happen if Patsy Cline got pissed off, joined Queens of the Stone Age and played music that would make Johnny Cash want to play rock n' roll. Just releasing her new CD, "Whether We Shall Repel,” she is currently on a Canada-wide tour.
Jim Rain & The Rebellionlists their three major influences as Steve Earle, Willie Nelson and The Pogues - never be a bad thing. This band knows how to write great songs and they are going to be a pinnacle force in Canada's new wave of traditional rock, set to take over where Blue Rodeo left off. This will be the lead-up show to their big New Year’s Eve Bash at Greenwood’s Top Hat, and then they’re headed to Europe.
In from Halifax, My Dog Ego is a three-piece unit that combine all the essentials elements of rock. What does it sound like when three 90's teens grow into short men and play catchy alternative rock with the skill of bands like TOOL, the raw power of AC/DC and the icing sugar of Sublime? Seeing a lead singer who is also the drummer keep timing while the guitarist and bassist are ripping it up is a spectacle on its own.
The show is a Smokin’ Entertainment production, set to rock out at The Anvil in Wolfville Nov. 30 at 9 p.m.
