Good things grow in bunches
Bob Bennett’s love for growing lead to an impressive grape crop.
Good things grow in bunches
Harvest season is in full swing but apples aren’t the only fruit being picked by the bushel. Grapes are ripe now and bursting with sweet nectar.

The home of Bob Bennet and Linda Harris on the Chester Road was bustling with activity last week as friends lent a hand to harvest the purple crop which will be turned into wine at St. Famille in Falmouth.

All of Bennett’s grapes are sold to the local winery but for him it’s all about passion not profit. “I spend more than I make. This is just a hobby for me and thankfully friends volunteer to help pick at the end of the season.”

Bennett started out nine years ago with 128 plants in his yard, which have since blossomed into an acre of vine-covered slopes.

“You gotta grow things,” he said. “I like feeding people and what’s better then wine.”
