New diploma program at Avon View High School
Avon View High School is now authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer the IB Diploma Program, commencing this September.

It’s the only school in the AVRSB that’s certified as an IB World School. The IB Program is an internationally recognized advanced liberal arts diploma designed for ambitious students in Grade 11 and 12.This two-year program is open to students who are starting Grade 11.

To do well in the program students should be highly motivated and have a strong work ethic. Students who are interested in the program often enroll in IB preparatory courses in Grade 10.

The Diploma Program emphasizes critical thinking and analysis, written and oral communication, creativity, community service, athletics and internationalism. IB graduates are highly sought after by universities and often receive university credits for their IB courses. Students may choose to enroll in only one or two IB courses in high school, which may also be eligible for university credit.

To receive more information about the Program, contact the IB Coordinator, Claire Surette, at 792-6788 or by e-mail: claire.surette@staff.ednet.ns.ca.
