Select Annapolis Valley Summit

The Kings CED Agency invites you to attend the Select Annapolis Valley Summit. The

summit is being held to gather feedback to aid in the development of a buy-local strategy for the Annapolis Valley Region.

The Department of Agriculture has recently introduced a province-wide campaign, entitled ‘Select Nova Scotia’, with a similar vision and it’s the hope to capitalize on their resources and build a complementary campaign.

The summit will take place Aug. 28, 2007 from 1-4 p.m. at the K.C. Irving Environmental Centre at Acadia University, Wolfville.

Morning sessions will be held also to meet with farmers (8-9 a.m.); restaurants (9:30-10:30 a.m.) and retailers (11 a.m. to 12 p.m.).

For more information about the event, contact Ashley Greene, Project Development Assistant at 678-3766 or via e-mail at agreene@kingsced.ns.ca.

Innovation 101, 2007: Appreciative Inquiry

This event, facilitated by Dr. Jeanie Cockell, will focus on providing tools and teaching participants to increase creativity and innovation in themselves, their workplace and the community using Appreciative Inquiry (AI).

The event, hosted by the Kings Innovation Council, will be held September 24-25, 2007 at the Old Orchard Inn, Wolfville.

For more information or to register, contact Marianne Gates, Development Officer, at 678-0393 or via e-mail at marianne@kingsced.ns.ca. More information can also be found on the Kings CED Agency’s website at www.kingsced.ns.ca.

Junior Achievement Company Program volunteers needed

Junior Achievement is set to bring the Company Program back to schools for the 2007-2008 school year. Company Program is a high school program that allows students to start and run a real business over an 18-week period from mid-October to mid-March. Students are guided by a team of volunteer advisors.

Junior Achievement is looking for teams of at least four people to advise students on their entrepreneurial journey. As a volunteer, you will meet with students once a week for 18 weeks and occasionally attend extra sessions such as Executive Training, Biz Busters or Trade Fair.

Company Programs will run in Windsor, Wolfville, Waterville, Middleton and Annapolis Royal. Full training and program materials are provided by Junior Achievement.

For more information about the Company Program, or to volunteer, call (902) 454-4564 or visit their website at www.janovascotia.org.
