Head-on crash
Head-on crash
Annapolis Valley Traffic Services is investigating a crash that occurred on Highway 101 Monday at 11:40 a.m. An eastbound van towing a trailer with sailboats collided with a westbound vehicle west of exit 8 at Hantsport. The collision occurred as the van, traveling down the hill, approaching exit 8 with the large trailer, began to sway back and forth, causing difficulty for the driver to maintain control of the trailer and van. An oncoming van collided with van and trailer in the westbound lane. The impact caused the load of sailboats to be thrown from the trailer and extensively damaged the oncoming van. The driver and three children from the westbound vehicle were all transported to the Valley Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The children were later released. The driver and passenger of the van towing the sailboats were not injured. Department of Transportation and the Hantsport Fire Volunteer Fire Department provided assistance while the road was cleaned up. The highway was closed for two hours.
