Man airlifted to Halifax hospital following morning crash on Highway 101
A 69-year-old man from Salmon River, Digby County was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital in Halifax following a single motor vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Highway 101.

The RCMP responded to the Aug. 15 crash, which occurred at 10 a.m., six kilometers east of Yarmouth.

According to the RCMP’s Western Traffic Services, a westbound Dodge pickup truck left the roadway and struck an approach road, flipping over and landing on its wheels in the south ditch.

The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was originally transported to Yarmouth Regional Hospital.

Police say the driver was not wearing his seatbelt.

The RCMP Western Traffic Services is continuing its investigation.

The weather was clear and the highway was dry at the time of the incident.

The traffic services unit was assisted at the scene by members of the Yarmouth Rural RCMP Detachment and the Yarmouth Fire Department.
