They purchased an offer thinking all was well, but found days later they wouldn’t receive the services they had purchased and wouldn’t be given a refund.

Kelly Salsman of Kentville said she purchased a $40 package deal July 20 from a representative of Penn Promotions, offered in conjunction with and authorized by Complete Your Attitude Day Spa in Coldbrook. Salsman said that she and seven of her friends and family members purchased the offer on or just before July 20.

However, Complete Your Attitude closed its doors July 26. Salsman said she understands that the representative of Penn Promotions who sold her the package, which included a variety of spa services, was told a week before the day spa closed to stop selling the offers.

“He sold it to me on July 20 and they closed on July 26,” Salsman said, pointing out that she feels the sale was made in bad faith. “Someone knew something.”

She said they had no reason to mistrust the representative of Penn Promotions because she had purchased an offer from a different salon through the same man last year with no difficulties.

Salsman said the representative of Penn Promotions told her the former employees of Complete Your Attitude would honour the offers at their new place of business or he would offer a refund, but now he isn’t returning calls.

When called by this reporter, a voice mail indicated that anyone with inquires about the Complete Your Attitude situation could send the questions via e-mail. The voice mail said a representative of Penn Promotions or their lawyer’s office would respond. However, there had been no response to an e-mail with questions sent to the address prior to press time for this issue.

Wants a refund

Salsman said some of the former employees of Complete Your Attitude had offered discounts on services to those affected, but one told her they wouldn’t honour the offers because they wouldn’t get paying customers that way.

Salsman said she wants to either find a salon that will honour the offers to the full extent or she wants a refund. In total, she and her friends and family are out $320.

Jasmine Kelly of Wolfville, who also purchased the offer July 20, said she found out Monday, July 30 that the package deal wouldn’t be honoured. She had planned to call to make an appointment on her lunch hour that day and said she feels that the sale of the offer was made in bad faith.

“They ripped me off and they’re doing it to other people,” she said. Kelly pointed out that $40 might not seem like a lot of money, but it’s a matter of principle. She said the offer seemed like a real treat to someone like her who wouldn’t usually spend a lot of money on herself.

She said she’d be happy with either a refund or the services she purchased, but she would really like her money back.

“I don’t want any more dealings with them or their associates,” she said.
