White Rock news
How has your week been, everyone? The words that come to mind to describe it might be relaxing, fun, restful, hectic and busy. Which category do you fall into?
My weeks are hectic, but fun too. I don’t think that in today’s society a person can avoid ‘hectic’, but I do believe we can have fun.
We didn’t do much for our long weekend, but we did manage to take Monday as a family day and just have fun. We went miniature golfing.
It was fun to watch the boys try to direct the ball and it was relaxing not to think of the responsibilities of life for a little while. We had ice cream, visited friends and went to supper. I hope everyone had an opportunity to relax and spend time with family and friends.
We would like to congratulate all Grade 12 students graduating from Horton
from White Rock and Black River. They are: Nicholas Caldwell, Justyn Crisp, Robert Crouse, Chad Cudmore, Natasha Davidson, Evan Ells, Nichole Gillis, Lewis Henderson, Shane Kaizer, Kale Levy, Jenesta Long-Sorochan, Brody Russell, Tyler Schofield, Allison Weir and Ellen Whitman.
Congratulations on all you've accomplished. Best wishes to you as you enter the next stage of your journey in life. (Of the close to 300 graduating students at Horton, we have nearly five per cent of them in White Rock and Black River!)
Congratulations to those students who have completed their junior high and
elementary school years and are about to make the transition to a new school
in the fall. Those of you that aren’t making such a big change from one stage to another still deserve the recognition of a year well done. Enjoy your summer holidays. Have fun and play safe.
Gaspereau School anticipates the changes in store. For those of you that don’t know, the school is getting ready for an addition that will change its layout substantially. A new full-size gymnasium is scheduled to begin construction this summer. Enrolment is increasing as well, so a breath of fresh air will hit the school.
The summer combined Church services have begun with the first being held in
White Rock July 1. They start each Sunday at 10 a.m. with the next service July 8 in Gaspereau and July 15 in Wallbrook. The schedule is posted on the door of the Church.
Sandra Cudmore is looking into the possibility of holding a couple of
Creative Memories workshops during the month of July at the White Rock
Community Centre. If anyone is interested in more information, call
Sandra at 542-5518.
As a Creative Memories Consultant, Sandra helps people manage their photos. She also offers products and services for organizing and preserving traditional prints and digital images.
Remember, everyone, that there are still tickets available for the New Year’s Eve dinner and dance. If you’re interested, contact Sandra Cudmore for tickets.
Remember also to enjoy watching a game of soccer sometime over the summer. There will be lots of tournaments. Stop, relax and watch the children learn and enjoy. If you’re not into soccer then there are many other sports going on around the area, too.
Sandra Cudmore and relatives are looking forward to the annual Hancock Family Picnic July 21 at the home of Bobby and Louise Hood in Mt. Uniacke. It's a great time catching up on news with the family, having a swim and enjoying a delicious pot luck supper.
Best wishes to Twila Young, who celebrated her birthday July 7. Happy birthday also to Diane Ells, who celebrated July 9. Kirk Long (I think) celebrated his birthday July 11, Freda Long celebrates her 89th July 12, Junior Schofield celebrates July 14 and Bertha Hawkins will celebrate July 15 – her 101st . Congratulations to Bertha on this wonderful milestone.
I would also like to say how much we miss Darrell. July 16 will be the second anniversary of the terrible day when we had to say goodbye. It’s still so hard to believe yet the hurt is so fresh to our hearts. Darrell is always in our thoughts.
