Doctors salute rural physician
Aylesford physician Dr. Peter Goddard, who maintains a one-day-a-week satellite practice in Bear River, has been named ‘rural physician of the year’ by Doctors Nova Scotia.
The award was presented at the association’s annual meeting June 9 in Digby.
Goddard has spent the past 40 years providing both outstanding and dedicated service to the people of the Annapolis Valley, according to the Doctors Nova Scotia citation.
A strong patient advocate, Dr. Goddard maintains the belief that patients should have accessibility to good medical care. He is medical director for Grand View Manor and New Visions Nursing Home in Berwick and is on the attending staff at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville and the Kings County Regional Rehabilitation Centre in Waterville.
Goddard also found time to spread his service around the world, including doing a locum in the British West and being a locum flying doctor in Australia. He is currently a Canadian civil aviation medical examiner.
Goddard and his wife Ann live in Aylesford and have four children along with five grandchildren.
