SeaFest planning on schedule
Organizers of the seventh annual Queens County SeaFest are moving forward on schedule for all components of the popular end of summer event.
“The announcement that the aligned event, Rockin’ on the Mersey has been cancelled has had little or no impact on our event,” explained Jean Robinson-Dexter, SeaFest chairperson. “None of our entertainment or family activities were contingent on the event ‘up the hill,’ so it’s business as usual for us.”
Robinson-Dexter said members of the SeaFest Planning Committee had been discussing issues such as traffic and risk management with the group’s representatives, as well as looking at a coordinated effort around entertainment production.
“Obviously there would have been economies of scale having Rockin’ on the Mersey using our production vendors, which was part of the agreement we developed.
“The community and visitors can look forward to a great weekend of fishing, family activities, great acts in an expanded Entertainment Tent and at the Friday night concert.”
Queens County SeaFest takes place August 24-26 at the Brooklyn Marina and Waterfront Park.
