Windsor mayor Anna Allen upon receipt of the President's Award from Roger Isnor of the Nova Scotia Association for Community Living.
Mayor lauded for community living stance
Mayor Anna Allen of Windsor received the President’s Award June 10 from Roger Isnor of the Nova Scotia Association for Community Living.
The Association, which provides information to and advocates for people with an intellectual disability and their families, met in Windsor to honour Allen “for her leadership in making Windsor a welcoming community for all its citizens.”
In his remarks at the presentation, Isnor said, “Mayor Anna has been an enthusiastic and contributing member of the Advisory Committee of our Inclusion Project Initiative in Windsor since its beginning. She is a supporter of People First of Windsor in a way that no other mayor in Canada is. She knows her community and works to make it accessible to all its citizens and leads by example.”
The President’s Award is not given annually, but only when a person or organization has been exemplary in providing support to people with an intellectual disability to assist them in being full citizens in their communities.
