Liverpool resident, Darcy Ives, 45, has been charged with sexually exploiting a female minor to make child pornography.
Const. Bill Wilcox, with the Queens RCMP, said members conducted a search June 2 of an apartment at 98 Union St. on a warrant for drugs. Quantifies of cannabis marihuana, scales, drug paraphernalia, and cash were allegedly found. Ives is facing charges of trafficking and possession under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Const. Wilcox added the trafficking charges include prescription drugs.
While executing the search warrant, however, Const. Wilcox said, police found evidence related to the other charges and, subsequently, obtained a second search warrant. “The investigation changed,” he explained.
The evidence includes videotapes and photographs. Const. Wilcox said, “a female under the age of 18” found at the apartment is “no longer there. Efforts were made to take her to a shelter.”
At this point, he said he can’t discuss whether pornography has been sold or not to “protect the integrity of the investigation.”
He added, “We want to let the community know what has been done but we want to protect the individual. We don’t want to allegedly victimize her again.”
Ives is appearing in Bridgewater Provincial Court today (June 4) for a bail hearing to face the above-mentioned drug related charges and charges of Sexual Exploitation, Possession of Child Pornography and Making Child Pornography under the Criminal Code of Canada.
