Expert Charlie Appelstein will be in Kentville June 14 to share his opinion on why there’s ‘No Such Thing as a Bad Kid’ with local parents.
Appelstein, who hails from New England, will tackle topics like responding instead of reacting, preventing misbehaviour and building self-esteem when he presents a free workshop.
With 27 years of experience working in child welfare, including six years at a residential treatment setting in New Hampshire, Appelstein is coming to the Valley on the invitation of Family and Children’s Services of Kings County.
He has been a workshop presenter for 15 yeas and also operates an educational training organization while working as a consultant and trainer for numerous school systems.
Appelstein is the author of two volumes of The Gus Chronicles: Reflections from an Abused Kid, as well as No Such Thing As a Bad Kid: Understanding and Responding to the Challenging Behavior of Troubled Children and Youth.
A frequent presenter at regional and national childcare conferences, he uses humour and passion in his workshops. Appelstein’s talk runs from 7–9:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church on Belcher St. in Kentville.
