A young Delhaven resident was identified three days after he was killed May 25 in a collision.
Jeffery Albert Garber, 19, died when the truck he was driving spun out of control near Falmouth. Garber’s vehicle struck a concrete overpass support about 10:40 p.m.
Garber was the lone occupant of a 2007 GMC pick-up truck. According to witnesses, he was trying to pass another vehicle when he crashed into the support column on the Falmouth connector road.
RCMP Cst. Andy Hamilton said Garber was killed on impact. The Annapolis Valley Traffic Services officer said the truck then burst into flames.
The blaze made identification a problem that had to be tackled by a medical
examiner, Cst. Kenneth Cook noted. An autopsy was conducted last week and dental records were required.
Police indicated that road conditions and weather weren’t factors in the fatality, but speed may have been.
