Coffee cowboy gets service at Barrington Tim Horton's
Robert Chetwynd arrived at the Barrington Tim Horton’s and seemed a little surprised that he was served at the drive-thru window.

After visiting Tim Horton’s locations on horseback in Yarmouth, Chetwynd (referred to by most people in the community as Jello) tried his luck at the Barrington coffee shop on Tuesday morning. The night before he said he was refused service.

On Tuesday morning, he received a lot of stares, but no hassles as he picked up his large coffee and trotted away.

There have been some hassles in the past.

He received a court order to stay away from the coffee shop in May 2002. In 2003 Chetwynd and his horse Dillon were seized by the RCMP after he resisted arrest. Chetwynd was pepper sprayed and jailed until his court appearance. That November he faced more than two-dozen Criminal Code charges.

On Friday, Chetwynd finished a six-month house arrest.

Chetwynd was reunited with Dillon last November but chose to stand in Alma Square in Yarmouth on Friday afternoon with his newly purchased horse, Casanova, a 15-year-old white gelding.

Looking at his coffee at the Barrington Tim Hortons, he held it up in triumph for a moment. But a few minutes later he gave it to a friend, the moment seemed anticlimactic.

“This has all cost me a lot of money,” he said as he rode past.
