Kings County gears up for annual Senior Games
Horseshoes is just one of a number of activities as part of the Kings Senior Games, a fun competition for those 55 years and older. This year's Games get underway May 21 with activities throughout the county.

Local recreation departments are gearing up for the Kings Senior Games, a friendly annual competition in a variety of activities for individuals aged 55 and over.

This year’s competition is set to get underway Monday, May 21 and continue through Thursday, May 31 with activities May 21-25 and May 28-31 in a number of locations throughout Kings County.

The schedule of activities is as follows:

Monday, May 21 – Auction 45s, 7 p.m., Kentville Fire Hall.

Tuesday, May 22 – Crokinole, 2 p.m., Gaspereau Community Hall.

Wednesday, May 23 – Horseshoes, 9:30 a.m., Rotary Park, Wolfville.

Thursday, May 24 – Washer Toss, 2 p.m., Rainforth Park, Berwick.

Friday, May 25 – Darts, 10 a.m., Canning Legion.

Friday, May 25 – Arts and Crafts, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., County Fair Mall, New Minas (drop off entries between 9-10 a.m., pick up between 7-8 p.m.)

Monday, May 28 – Cribbage, 7 p.m., Coldbrook Community Hall.

Tuesday, May 29 – Walk and Throw, 9:30 a.m., Raymond Field, Acadia University.

Wednesday, May 30 – Skip-Bo, 2 p.m., Port Williams Community Centre.

Thursday, May 31 – Bowling, 10 a.m., Fairlanes, New Minas.

Thursday, May 31 – Variety Show and Awards Night, 7 p.m., New Minas Fire Hall (music and skits by seniors entertainers plus awards to top finishers in Games events).

To register or for more information, contact your nearest seniors’ club, drop off a registration form or call your nearest recreation department (Kings County 690-6191; Berwick 538-4016; Kentville 679-2540; Wolfville 542-2400; New Minas 681-6577; Canning 582-2033; Kingston 765-2800).

The deadline to pre-register is Monday, May 14. Competitors may also register at the door.
