Cash for Baby Cole
Nothing warms the heart like a successful fundraiser for a good cause, and that’s just what happened last Saturday night at Pockets Lounge in Windsor.
The ongoing “Hope for Cole” campaign has been raising cash for baby Cole Cox, (featured in the April 19 edition of the Journal) who suffers from a rare immune deficiently disease and recently underwent a successful stem-cell transplant at the Children’s Hospital in Montreal.
Erin and Marcel Amirault, Holly Archibald, Cheryl Crowell, Emilie Smith, Renee Baker and Kelly Slaunenwhite organized the Auction and Dance, which was attended by 275 persons and rose an astounding 17,443 in one night.
Amirault said there were over $15,000 worth of items donated to the auction and she was overwhelmed by the support of the community and volunteers involved with the event.
“We were ecstatic with the tremendous amount of support from the community,” said Erin Amirault. “We are so thankful to live in such a wonderful community full of generous and supportive individuals and businesses.”
Amirault gave a special thanks to Auctioneer Laurie Parker who volunteered his time and Rick Forand for accommodating all their needs at Pockets on auction night.
Coles’ mother Jennifer Cox, sent a message of thanks from Montreal with an update on her son’s condition.
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended, worked, helped in anyway with all the fundraisers. You have done so much for us. Thanks you, thank you, we cannot say it enough. Cox says Cole has been doing well, eating on his own and should be off two of his medications within the next three days. “That will be a day to celebrate,” Cox said.
The same weekend fundraisers took place in Lunenburg, Chester, Bridgewater and Halifax raising an additional $33,734 in total.
