Children's, public programs offered at Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens
Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens in Wolfville invites the public to discover the plants of the Acadian Forest Region at a variety of special workshops and public programs. Special workshops require pre-registration at (902) 585–1917.

The gardens and woodland trails are free to the public and open daily from 7:30 a.m. to sunset.

Free Public Programs include Nature Counts! Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. from May 8 to August 28 and Hike the Woodland Trails with the Blomidon Naturalists Society to record nature and wildlife sightings. Meet at the gardens’ main entrance. Bring binoculars and your love for nature!

Botanical Watercolour Painting: 9 a.m. to noon, May 5, 12 and 19, $75. Find inspiration in the gardens with artist Twila Robar-DeCoste. Bring brushes, paints and paper.



Digital Plant Photography: 9 a.m. to noon, June 2 and 9, $35. Capture the beauty of native plants with photographer Rick Penney. Bring your camera and a tripod.



Children’s Green Thumb Club: Wednesdays, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., May 23 to August 29, $50. Learn about growing food, organic gardening and attracting wildlife and meet new friends.



Children’s Summer Ecology Camps: (Monday to Friday) 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, ages six to 12, $50.

Habitat Heroes for Kids: (July 9 to 13): Explore the forest habitats to unearth our ecological superheroes.

Circle of Life for Kids: (August 13 to 17): Discover natural forest cycles through art, music and drama.
