A police chase through the streets of downtown Shelburne drew a crowd as the Shelburne RCMP officers raced on foot to bring down a man attempting to resist arrest.
Three cruisers from the Shelburne RCMP detachment responded to a fight that broke out between two male individuals in an upstairs apartment beside the Loyalist Inn on King Street in Shelburne on April 26 at around 5:00 p.m.
The members went down and broke up the fight, removing one male from the apartment and securing him in the police car.
A third individual came on to the scene yelling at the police and attempting to obstruct the members.
The police attempted to place him under arrest for obstruction at which point he resisted and began to run down the street away from the arresting officers.
“Stop, and get down to the ground,” ordered one constable as he aimed his taser towards the man.
The man continued to run with the two officers hot in pursuit.
The yells of the officers echoed off the downtown buildings as they chased the resisting man, instructing him to get down on the ground.
The pursuit lasted less than a minute and the officers arrested the man placing him in the police vehicle where the man proceeded to kick out the back window.
According to Sergeant Barry MacLellan, of the Shelburne RCMP detachment, the man will be charged accordingly including, resisting arrest, obstruction, property damage and mischief.
