April 8,  2007 to April 14, 2007, continued Nicholas C. Bochain, Sr. - January 5, 1916 – April 9, 2007. Born in New York City to Amelia and Emilian Bochain. Attended college in New York City and Alabama. Served with honor in World War II and Korea. Ran a farm, a sawmill and a hot dog stand. Was a photographer. Was an aeronautical engineer for Pratt and Whitney and Kaman Aircraft. Loved hunting, fishing, camping, clamming, mushroom picking and baking bread. Made great beer. Loved his family, the sea, his country and his friends. Loved Moosup and Colchester, CT as well as Block Island Sound, and the Peribonca River in Northern Quebec. Loved Nova Scotia, and the Everglades in Florida. Fascinated by everything. Loved and remembered by his wife of 57 years, Grace (Dolly) Markham Bochain; by his brother Alex Bochain; by his son Nicholas C. Bochain, Jr,; by his daughter Grace Bochain Luddy with William Luddy and grandchildren, Kevin and Emily; by his daughter Amelia Bochain Parcinski with Stan Parcinski, by grandchildren Jennifer, Dan, Todd, and Elisabeth and great grandchildren Morganne and Madalyne; by his daughter Mary King Bochain with Paul Maloney and grandchildren Danielle, Isabelle and Stephanie; by his son George Bochain with Catherine Meluish Bochain and grandchildren Amelia, Hannah and Matthew; by his daughter Catherine Ann Bochain with Anne D’Alleva and his grandson, James. Nick passed away at his home in Florida and will return to Connecticut in a few weeks. A memorial service will be held in Moosup, CT. with timing to be announced in accordance with his wife’s wishes. Father of Luella (Sterling) Belliveau, Woods Harbour, NS; grandfather of Ginger (Steven) LeBoutillier, Brooklyn, NS, and Suzanne Belliveau, Sydney, Australia; brother of Wordlow (Betty) Cameron, Havelock (Brenda) Cameron, Woods Harbour, NS, Edward (Myrtle), Baccaro, NS and Pauline Berry, Burlington, MA; brother-in-law and friend of Hazel Cameron, Woods Harbour, NS. He was predeceased by parents, Vera (Stoddart) and Charles Cameron; brothers, Clifton and Gordon; sister, Kathleen Stoddard, and wife, Margaret. He will long be remembered for his quick wit, candidness and amazing inner strength. Cremation and a private family graveside service. No flowers or donations all by request of the deceased.
April 8,  2007 to April 14, 2007, continued PADDOCK, Isabel Mary - 71, Villa St. Joseph du Lac, passed away April 12, 2007, in Villa St. Joseph. Born in Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co., on March 4, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Mae (Doucette) Saulnier. Isabel was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral. She was a member in many organizations including the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61 Yarmouth Ladies Auxiliary, the Golden Age Club, and was a member of the Legion choir. She is survived by her husband, Anthony "Tony" Paddock; daughter, Linda (Gordon) Muise, Lower Wedgeport; sons, Brian Deveau, British Columbia; Danny Deveau, Alberta; Randy Deveau, Victoria, B.C.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and brother, Lloyd Saulnier, Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co. She was predeceased by her first husband, Freeman Deveau. Visitation was held Sunday, April 15 in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a Legion Ladies Auxiliary Service held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service took place Monday, April 16 at 10:30 a.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D. "Bill" Newell officiated. Burial took place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Born in Overton, Yarmouth Co., on February 21, 1926, he was a son of the late Archibald Wardlow and Georgina (Killam) Fevens. He is survived by his wife, Mary Josephine (Trefry); son, Stuart (Michelle), Wedgeport; daughter; Janet (Ron) Snook, Edmonton; grandchildren, Brian Fevens, Cpl. Shaun Fevens, Celine Fevens, Angelique Leblanc, Andrew Snook, Jonathan Snook, and David Snook; brothers, Lawrence, Halifax; Leslie "Mac", Kingston; Archie, Yarmouth. He was predeceased by sisters, Nellie and Amelia; brothers, Wardlow, Hugh, Ernest, and Guy. He was a member of Temple United Baptist Church, a deacon, treasurer, former Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the church choir and an officer in the first Yarmouth Sea Cadet Corps "Chebogue". He was a salesman on the south shore for over 30 years for Yarmouth Ice Cream and Dairy, Tri-County Wholesalers and Hudson's Bay Wholesalers. He was a life member of District 7W Barrington Passage Fire Department. He was also a member of the Southwesters Barbershoppers when the group was active. Donations may be made to Temple Church Memorial Fund or Nakile Home for Special Care. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, April 15 in Sweeny's Funeral Home. A funeral service was held Monday, April 16 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Rev. Robert Baker officiated. Burial took place in Cheggogin Cemetery. April 8,  2007 to April 14, 2007, continued Frances Marion McCabe — 83, of the Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Union Street, Stellarton, passed away Friday, April 13, 2007 in the Villa. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Burton and Mary (Hoare) Fowlie. Frances was the eldest of five children. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, and Lodge #667, Ladies Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union. She is survived by daughter, Cathy (Georges) deRome of Liverpool; son, Don (Cheryl) of Moncton, NB; grandchildren, Danielle and Marc; sisters: Helen Boomer, June (Cyril) MacIntosh, Joyce Kent and Judy McNutt all of Truro. She was predeceased by her husband, Garfield, in July 2006. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service was held Sunday, April 22 from H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton; Rev. Born in North Sydney, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Gordon and Rita (Haggett) Scott. Gerard is survived by his wife of 24 years, June (Harding) Scott, East Green Harbour; son, Patrick, East Green Harbour; sister, Joan, North Sydney; brothers, Arthur, Stanley and Edward of Hamilton, Ont, Anthony, Calgary. He was predeceased by a brother, Gordon. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Lockeport with Pastor Ed Otis officiating. Born in Falkland Ridge, NS she was a daughter of the late William and Luetta (Feener) Lupton. Myrtle enjoyed knitting and making quilts. She loved her family dearly, especially all of her grandchildren. She is survived by daughters, Louise (Orland) Bayers, Sackville, NS, Jean Hudson, Prince George, BC, Shirley Crouse, Hamilton, ON, Ruth Parsons, Vancouver Island, BC, Ellen Silver St. Catharine ON; daughter-in-law, Joanne Silver, Deep River, ON; sons, Frank (Ellen), Deep River, ON, David (Tammy Williams), Greenwood, Roy, Oakville, ON, Robert (Marie), Inglisville, Timothy, Dartmouth, Thomas, Dartmouth; 25 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; son, Kenneth; brothers, William Lupton, Thomas Lupton; sister, Isabelle Nobel; two children in infancy and an infant sister. Myrtle was a cook at the following restaurants / establishments; Eisner’s Restaurant in Middleton, Mount Lea Lodge in Bridgetown and CFB Shilo Manitoba. She also, in her younger years, worked at Scotia Gold in Berwick, NS. Visitation was held Tuesday, April 17 and funeral service was held Wednesday, April 18 both in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448, Pastor Danny Smith officiated. April 8,  2007 to April 14, 2007, continued ROSE, Jennie Irene - October 18, 1909-April 14, 2007. Jennie Irene Rose passed away April 14 at age 97 in Villa St. Joseph. Born in Port Maitland, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Odessa (Floyd) Rose. She was a member of New Life Church for many years. She was the Matron of Sunset Terrace Ladies Home for several years. Later she was House Mother at the Yarmouth Nurses Residence. Jennie enjoyed working in her flower garden, knitting and sewing. She loved children and spent many hours playing games and teaching Sunday school with them. Everyone lovingly called her Aunt Jennie. She is survived by sisters, Thelma Rose, Villa St. Joseph; Muriel Muise and Mildred Pennell, both of Brenton; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Estella Steeves and Francis Harris; brothers, James, Herbert, Weldon and Clarence Rose. Visitation was held Tuesday, April 17 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held Wednesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Rev. Larry Pennell and Rev. Karl Gorman officiated. Interment was in Port Maitland Bear River Cemetery. Donations may be made to New Life Church. April 8,  2007 to April 14, 2007, continued Garnet Merlyn Levy - 71, Greenwich, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in White Rock, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Oscar and Edna (Finley) Levy. Garnet worked in construction for most of his career. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed working in his gardens. Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Joyce (Parrish); daughter, Holly White, Greenwich; grandchildren that were very dear to his heart, Sydney and Riley; sister, Dora (Parker) Eddy, New Minas; brothers, Eric (Diane), Sackville; Harlan (Alma) Sackville; many nieces and nephews. Garnet is also survived by sister-in-law, Dorothy (Joe) Saulnier, Hantsport and their children, also brother-in-law, Harold (Esther) Parrish, Rockland and their children. He is predeceased by sister, Eileen Ritcey. Funeral Service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Kentville. Marshall Schofield officiated. Family flowers only, please; however, donations in memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.
