
MURPHY, Ethren Bradford - 93, Pubnico, died April 3, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Argyle Sound, Yarmouth Co., he was a son of the late Alexander Murphy and Annie Frost. He was a member of Argyle and Pubnico Baptist Church, former member of the Masonic Lodge, Pubnico, and was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a lobster fisherman and worked for Edgar Hamilton and at the moss plant in Pubnico. Surviving are nieces, Myra Hodges, Erma (Errol) Clark, Bertha (Lester) Huckins and Dorothy (Joe) Longo, all of New Hampshire; nephews, Radford (Irma) Messenger and Herbert Messenger, both of New Hampshire; many grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Ryder; sisters, Myra, Edith, and twin sister, Florence; brother, Ivan. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5 in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Rev. A.D. "Bill" Newell officiated. Interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Pubnico. HARRINGTON, Clarence Joseph - 70, Chebogue, Yarmouth Co., passed away April 3, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Melbourne, he was a son of the late Leslie and Beatrice (Boudreau) Harrington. He worked for Cook's Dairy, Motor Mart and Yarmouth Chrysler. He enjoyed bluegrass, camping, dancing and cooking, and was well-known for his rappie pie and homemade bread. He loved to work with his hands. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clarence was a friend to everyone and will be remembered for his dry but witty sense of humour. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Pinner); daughters, Marsha Harrington (Brian Michaels), Yarmouth; Beatrice Crowell, Yarmouth; Betty Harrington, Yarmouth; Heather Harrington, Edmonton, Alta.; son, Clarence (Terry Lee), Yarmouth; sisters, Jean Doucet, Florence Boudreau, both of Yarmouth; Anita Hazelton, Ontario; brothers, Howard, Wedgeport; Nathan (Margaret), Ontario; grandchildren, Amanda Harrington, Halifax; Noah Poirier, Yarmouth; Travis Harrington, Justin Michaels, Yarmouth; Samantha Hubbard, Eric Keeping, Edmonton; Katie and Chaya Harrington, Yarmouth; Nataya, Jarrett and Riley Crowell, Yarmouth; great-grandchild, Zoe Harrington Bradford, Halifax. He was predeceased by brother, Lester; sisters, Marjorie Papish and Celeste Brittain. Visitation was held Thursday, April 5 and Friday, April 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers Friday at 8:30 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth, where funeral was held Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m, Father John MacPherson officiated. Porter, Vera E. Of Bromley in Kent, UK died peacefully at the Lewisham Hospital on Monday, April 2, 2007. Miss Porter was the sister of the late L.G. Porter (Lofty) and sister-in-law to the late Dr. Eleanor Bergman-Porter of Yarmouth. Vera is survived by two nieces and two nephews as well as her beloved God-daughter Linda Horssord and family, Maidston Kent. Vera enjoyed many lengthy holidays in Yarmouth, all our seasons were a delight to her, even the fog was a pleasure to her. Vera will be missed by many friends of all ages.
