Cecil Miles Lowe — In the early morning of Friday, March 30, 2007, Dad closed his tired eyes for the final time, with family at his side. Born June 9, 1926, to the late William and Anne (Seamone) Lowe of Milton, he was the last surviving member of his family. Dad was a well-known teamster of oxen. He loved to show and work his team for tourists and friends. Many pictures were taken and sent back to him from various parts of the country. One team won a special exhibition haul in Lunenburg on June 16, 1983 that was held in honor of the “Royal Visit” from Princess Di and Prince Charles. He also had a team that was on show at the Lord Nelson Hotel. Another love of his was telling bear stories, which always held his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in amazement. He was employed at Bowater Mersey as a millwright, until his early retirement due to ill health. Dad was an honorary Board of Director for the Queens County Fair. Over the past years, he would take his weekly drive to North Queens Nursing Home to deliver a copy of the weekly Advance. He is survived by daughters, Beverly (Brian) Purdy, Cathy (Randy) Conrad; sons, Gary (Hattie), Eric (Rose), all of Milton; grandchildren: Tracey, Jeff, Shannon, Melanie, Norma, Genny, Gary Jr., Lisa and Leslie; great-grandchildren: Chelsey, Samuel, Kolby, Kaylee, Jimmy, Alyssa, Wyatt, and Brandon; and his special companion, Buddy. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Genevieve Glode; brothers: Gilbert, Gordon, Walter and Edward. No service by request. Cremation will be under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home. Ruth Phyllis (nee Rockwel) Neville – Peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Dear wife of the late Everett Neville. Loving mother of Sharon Kelly of Kemptville and the late Kimberley Jo Neville who predeceased her mother in November 2006. Cherished Grammie of Terri (Tony Roach) and Paul Kelly (Blayr) and great-grandmother of Sarah and Katelyn Roach. Dear sister of Dorothy, Leonora, Helen, the late Gladys and the late Paul. Reid Ralston - Age 84, of Hantsport, Hants Co., passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007, in Windsor Elms, Windsor. Reid was born on September 14, 1922, in Poplar Grove, Hants Co., and was a son of the late William and Edna (Miller) Fletcher. Reid was a veteran of the Second World War, joining in 1941. He served with the 3rd Medium Regiment, landing at Juno Beach in France. He also served in Belgium, Holland, Germany and England. He volunteered to go to Japan before the war ended. Reid was the recipient of numerous medals, including the Holland Medal. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Lucknow Branch No. 109, Hantsport. Reid worked at the Fundy Gypsum Company, Hantsport, for 24 years, retiring as foreman. He enjoyed showing his ponies at events including the Windsor Exhibition, for many years. He was a past member of the Valley Draft Pony Association and was also an avid hunter. Reid was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Reid is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Verna Cochrane of Sweet's Corner; daughters, Wendy (Rob) Hazel, Martin's River; Barb (Roy) Ewart, St. Thomas, Ont.; Margaret (Laurie) Johnston, Hantsport; Anna Marsters, Kentville; Mary Lou (Graham) Lake, Newport Station; Jeanne Fletcher (Sarah), Hantsport; sons, William (Norma), Sweet's Corner; Reid Jr. (Julie), Hantsport; Allan (Diana), Kentville; Thomas David at home; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Wilma Spencer; brothers, Courtney, John and Ivan. Cremation has taken place. The family received visitors from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor. A private family graveside service was held at Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.. Tammy Marlene, 32, of Wolfville passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. She was the daughter of Jacklyn Parker and Gary Graves and foster daughter of Loretta & Kenneth Dix. Tammy was born on August 20, 1974 in the IWK Hospital, Halifax. The first 11 months of Tammy’s life were lived on the 9th floor of the Neonatal Unit in the hospital. Here Tammy became part of the IWK family. She was loved, accepted and embraced by all the doctors, nurses and support workers who cared for her. Tammy’s heart showed through very early in her life as she developed a friendship with another child who was also a long term care patient. When Tammy came into this world she was not expected to live. She proved everyone wrong. At 11 months old, Tammy’s next transition in life was to become part of the Dix family of Mount Uniacke. When Tammy left the hospital it was explained to Loretta & Ken that Tammy would never walk or talk and would be confined to a bed or wheelchair. She proved everyone wrong again. It was with the Dix family that Tammy flourished and overcame many of the challenges that were thought to be her life. Tammy quickly became the centre of the family and was accepted and embraced by all including many members of the Mount Uniacke Community. Tammy attended Uniacke District School where she made many friends with students and teachers. A new stage in her life began when Tammy moved to the Valley in her teens to live with Jackie. She developed new families. She graduated from Central Kings High School in 1994 where she was well remembered. As a young adult, Tammy moved to Wolfville. She had her own apartment and fulfilled many dreams there. She worked at the Front Street Café, ran her own business, " Beck and Call", and was presently employed at Acadia, in their food services and at On the Verge Restaurant. Tammy was an icon in the town and this was another of her important families. Tammy was an advocate. She was often a speaker for the Foster Parent Association and was a role model for people who need support to live independently in the community. SSG became another family. Tammy was caring and loved to have fun. She over came many barriers to achieve a rich fulfilled life. Tammy challenged us all, family and friends to be creative, to act with integrity and to say, "Yes We Can" !! Her death was unexpected and she will be missed by her many families and friends. Tammy, thank you for all the gifts you have given us. Malcolm Bruce Lewis – 91, of Port Williams, Kings County, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Lynn, Colchester County, he was a son of the late David and Alice (Graham) Lewis. He was employed in the apple industry with the Port Williams Fruit Company and Avon Foods and was well known for his knowledge of apples. He was a member, Elder and Sunday School Superintendent of the Greenwich United Church, where he was involved with the Dr. Verionie Male Choir. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary McKinley; a son, Robert Malcolm (Audrey Jean), Blue Rocks, Lunenburg County; two grandchildren, Chris Lewis, New Glasgow and Trudy Lynn (Anson) Field, Wellesley, Ontario; four great-grandchildren, Jesse and Terrin Lewis, Talia and Johnathon Field. He was predeceased by a brother, Graeme Reid; two sisters, Alice May Coldwell and Ethel Pettigrew. Visitation was held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Cecil Charles Hiltz – 86, of New Minas, Kings County passed away, surrounded by his loving wife and family, Saturday, March 31, 2007, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, following a brave battle with cancer. Born in Canaan, Kings County, he was a son of the late Charles and Flora (Walker) Hiltz. His family later moved to Woodville, Kings County, when he was two years old. He will be missed by his wife of 63 years, Georgina “Jean” Robertson; five sons, Charles (Dianne), Riverview, New Brunswick; Gordon, Moncton, New Brunswick; Gary and Ian, at home; Christopher (Eileen), New Minas; a daughter, Pat (Grant) Lloyd, Coldbrook; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Holt, Canning, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Balfour and Howard; a sister, Geraldene. Following graduation at the age of 16 from Woodville Consolidated School, he was employed with a number of agricultural enterprises for a short time before joining Milne’s Garage Limited, where he worked for over 40 years, serving as Parts Manager for the majority of that time until his retirement. Following retirement, he volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels and with the Canadian Red Cross Society. Cecil was a veteran of the Second World War, volunteering in 1941 and being sent overseas almost immediately with the Third Canadian Division. Serving with a front line ammunition company on D-Day, he saw action in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. While in England, he married his loving wife, Georgina Robertson of Aberdeen, Scotland. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the High Tide Drifters Camping Club for 30 years. He also enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He was a long-time member of St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch 6, Kentville. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2007. Donald Moland MacPherson - 83, Wolfville, passed away March 19, 2007. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2007 at 2:00pm in St. Andrews United Church, Main Street, Wolfville with Rev.
