A stolen car raced down the dark, dusty roads of Port Clyde on March 18 with its interior crammed full of recently stolen goods from a home in Barrington.
It was at 3:25 a.m. when Constable Darin Johnston from the Shelburne RCMP followed behind the moving vehicle and performed a routine check.
He relayed the license plate information to the dispatcher and immediately found the car to be stolen earlier from Halifax.
“Through a routine check the officer found the car to be stolen and wanted for a hit and run in Halifax,” said Sgt. Barry MacLellan of the Shelburne Detachment.
The officer approached the vehicle to find a 16-year old driver and 20-year old passenger in the car along with the stolen goods from their break and enter and a small amount of marijuana.
Both were arrested with the young offender being remanded into custody and the 20-year old man was released the next day with a court date of May 23.
